Pinnacle Community Development Corporation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization formed in 2003 by Earl and Wanda Boone. MISSION: To establish and strengthen collaboration among communities, faith-based organizations, private and non-profit agencies and local government to address substance abuse and improve the health and wellbeing of Durham Citizens
by helping to strengthen families and neighborhoods.

According to a segment on the NBC Today Show this morning -  60% of middle class citizens are accessing food banks nationwide. Also nationwide, children are asking to take their reduced lunches home so that they have food to eat in the evening. These are the working poor, living from paycheck to paycheck. If we work together, pooling our resources we can do so much. Please follow the link to an article about One Durham. We currently work collaboratively with many formal and informal programs in Durham. For more information contact Earl Boone, Pinnacle CDC 919-491-9740

One Durham Everybody Eats foundation is an outgrowth of One World Cafe in Salt Lake City, Utah. We will serve organic food, let people choose their own portions and let them price those portions themselves.  Founder, Denise Cerreta has gained local, national and world-wide notoriety for her pay as you go prices, seasonal no menu organic cuisine, living wages, minimal food waste and healthy meals that are within everyone's reach.

Founder Denise Cerreta will make Durham her temporary home to assist us with this project!

THE VISION
Families and Youth are at Risk
Substance Abuse...Unemployment...Food Insecurity

One Durham Everybody Eats (Community Kitchen and Garden ), One Durham Everybody Learns (Retreat Center) and One Durham Everybody Enjoys (Cultural Arts Center) will operate in the former Hartman’s Steakhouse, a Durham landmark for over 50 years is an 11,000 square foot building situated on five acres of land including a pond. This historic and significant property with a large kitchen once served 500 customers each night, 6 nights a week in 9 separate dining areas, will now potentially serve 500 citizens a day or more from birth to 100 plus. By offering services appropriate for infants to seniors including, youth and adult skill building, dance recitals, art shows, space rental for weddings, cotillions, quenceneros, business conferences and faith-based retreats, no one is left out of the One Durham community. The Pinnacle building is on the Durham City bus route and steps away from the closest bus stop. It is less than 10 minutes away from the center of the city, 11 minutes away from Duke University Medical Center, 12 minutes away from Research Triangle Park. These facts speak to the business sustainability. Hidden among the obvious and important, is the fact that our most vulnerable families, will learn to recognize, access and use the power of the social network and begin to self advocate to strengthen their families and transform their lives and the community in which we live.
